6 weeks post hysterectomy: pimple/boil on incision site with discharge if pressure applied

I had my hysterectomy done last June 18, 2014, they used my old incision when I had my caesarian last Aug. 9, 2011. I noticed a pimple/boil like on my incision site. It is hard to touch, a bit painful if pressure is applied. Also there's small amount of discharge that oozes out if pressure is applied. I feel ok, but is worried. My doctor is aware of it, he said to apply hot compress til it goes away. Is this normal? Thanks.

Seems others have had similar. Any cut can get infected. Follow doctors orders to get the infection out. If it gets worse then call doctor again.

Re: pimple/boil like on incision site with discharge if pressure is applied

I had my hysterectomy on June 9 and also developed a blister on the edge of one of the incisions. It grew to the size of a quarter and eventually popped on its own. My doctor said it was the wound draining and as long as it wasn't painful or red/irritated and I did not have a fever, it was normal. Once it popped on its own I applied neosporin and it eventually dried up and healed.
