Just wanted to report what I found out about my pelvic congestion. After finally going to the Houston Med Center to see a well respected DR for a 4th opinion, I've decided to put off my hyst indefinately and go with a wait and see approach. He said that many women who have varicose veins from having multiple big babies, often have their pain resolved after menapause. (Apparently the veins shrink or something) Since I'm 50, he said that if I can stand the pain for a while longer, it will most likely go away after menapause. Well, the pain is so sporadic that I know I can handle it. Also, some of the back pain will go away after my inguinal hernia surgery (That, I can't put off
) Many DRs told me the hernia wouldn't cause back pain but he said, Yes, it could. I just wanted to report this cause he said if I had come to him 10 years ago (my current DR has been trying to convince me to get a hyst for 10 years!) he would have also recommended a hyst, but that at this late a date , he couldn't see the point. Also, you should know that I don't have heavy bleeding or painful periods, so I'm not suggesting anyone else forgo a hyst. Only wanted to let anyone who is old, like me
know that if their only symptom is back pain and other things have been ruled out (fibroids, endo, adeno...) they could find out, through a laporoscopy, if they have varicose veins and they might want to go a less invasive route than a hyst. I certainly hope this DR is right ... never thought I would actually look forward to menapause!!
