post-op pain with intercourse, help!

Hi, I am re-posting this entry in post-op concerns....I mistakenly put it in pre-op a few minutes ago....Anyhow, I am 7 weeks out after TVH/BSO with rectocele repair. I am healing very well, and given the go-ahead for sex. Dh is very understanding and supportive. Problem: OUCH! Posterior vaginal wall is very sensitive (due to rectocele repair) and it hurts like crazy when we attempt intercourse. It is very sensitive, and hurts so much we can't continue. Anyone else experiencing this? How long does this pain last? Thank you for any input.....Best wishes to all!

I don't think it's odd for you to have found it to be painful at 7 weeks. I had the rectocele repair too and it wasn't terrible, but still not real comfortable at 7 weeks. What I found was that each week it got better. It was uncomfortable enough that we would try again in about a week to see if I was healed more and it was better each time. It sounds to me like yours was more painful than what I experienced. I think you should call your dr and ask about it just to be safe.
I saw where you had posted about vaginal dryness in an earlier post. I wonder if you might want to ask your dr about some estrogen cream for that. The replens might ease your discomfort, but not really meet the needs that the tissue has. I'm not familiar with the product really, but I know that estrogen can help that tissue to heal faster too if it is needing it. Just a thought for you.
