questions about TVH

Okay, I am scheduled for a TVH with both ovaries, (where is the list that has all the cool abbreviations??) on 9/8. What do I need to know and be prepared for? Also, my doc wants to put me on Premarin afterwards for a while, (I'll be 40 in Oct) is there anything else I can do with that? What little "gadgets" from the store would be helpful to me? Any advice will be appreciated!

Tomorrow will be 1 year ago for me. I had a TVH/BSO. I am taking Premarin 0.9, and it does the trick for me, I don't need anything else. I feel great. The thing I used most was my TRAVEL PILLOW for my tummy (it kept cats, kids and hubby away from it). I only stayed in the castle over night. My hubby was able to get me some gel filled ice packs that were 9"x 12" from his work, so they covered my tummy perfect--loved them.

Hi,

You will need a few pads (at least I did)
GasX (its highly recommended here)
A few larger sized underwear (its more comfortable when swelly belly hits)
stock up on tP (i tend to spend more time going)

Thanks! My doc thinks one night should do it. He wants the prem .6 something, so it sounds about the same. I'll have to look at the cooling pillows. Thanks, I am sure I'll have more questions as I think about them!!

Thanks Mac! I had forgotten about the GasX!! YIKES!! That is good to know!! (My family will be appreciative!) Also, "swelly belly"? Could you explain that a bit more and what I need for that?? Since I'm having a TVH, how bad will that be?

I had the tvh 8/8 and the swelly belly comes to visit every afternoon. Its where your belly swells.

Thanks again! I just read that link. You just had yours a couple weeks ago!! How has the recovery for you been? You replied to my please pray post, so you know I am hurting for some support. My mom lives with me which will help some, (she has health issues) and I have REALLY supportive friends, but I hate having them put their lives on hold for me!! :-~ However, EVERYONE still wants me to do this, and so do I!! I am sick and tired of being sick and tired 2 weeks a month!! I'll look at a lot of the stuff you told me about! Thanks for being there!!
