REST!! Why did it take a hysterectomy to make me stop putting myself last and REST?

I hear you!! I'm 3 wks post surgery and my daughter has surgery in a week. She is finally get a break.. Hope you are healing well.

I found out it took three people to do the job I do at home and they didnt do it all. And those people that are "friends" are only friends when they need you not when you need them I found that out to. Dbharp1 you are so right I am trying to put myself first now I havent done that for a long time.

All I have to say is "AMEN" !!!! .....Someone said to me the other day that I would be back into the swing of things soon, and I told him that I think I want to stay just like this. I am happy to say my superwoman cape is in storage and I really enjoy being waited on, lying around and not going 100 miles an hour everyday of my life. This surgery was truly a wake up call!!!! I thought it was just me who felt like this...lol lol

Unfortunately it was my husbands sister who couldn't find the time to call and ask how if surgery went ok. So next time she wants a night out on the town guess who will NOT be babysitting. Lol

And I'm with you women, it has been really nice to not go 100 miles an hour and just take it easy! Speedy recovery to you all!

So true- even after being told night to do housework, I still thought I could do a few things and I paid for it with aches and pains! Real rest makes a world of difference! Take it from me, just follow the Drs orders. And don't get me started on going up and down steps when u shouldn't!

Everyone is so true. It makes the friends and family realize just how much you do for them. Husbands especially. I had a couple breakdowns cause I would ask my husband for something and he never said anything and just sat there. Ok well I guess I will do it myself. When I finally got upset and said something he said well I was going to get it. I said well at least let me know you heard me. MEN can't live with them and definetly can't shoot them. lol

I am 55. My hysterectomy was not a precancerous "brush" with death, but a "wake up call."
I have decided to take care of myself.
I am working less, going to regular check ups, getting my hair done regularly, etc. I have also been doing a bit of traveling.

I truly believe that my hysterectomy "kicked off" my mid-life crisis with a "bang," LOL.

I go to the gym everyday, make healthy home cooked foods and dinners, and get a Korean massage every 3 months.

I have lost 30 pounds and hope to lose 10 more.
I must be looking pretty good because a 65 year old man "hit" on me the other day, LOL.

I told my DH and he was amused.
