Still in a lot of pain after hysterectomy
I had a total devinici si laparoscopic hysterectomy on Monday march 24. The doctor said he had to pull on a lot of scare tissue. I was in a lot of pain in the hospital and took all my pain meds plus asked for pain shot still in between. He sent me home with oxycod 10-325 ever 4 hr and Motrin 600 mg every 8 hrs. Need all the meds still and I still hurt before times up. Can't set straight up yet, I try to walk 5-10 min 2x a day on the drive way and back and forth to the bath room. My bed reclines and I spend alot of time their with ice and heat packs. Not sure why I still hurt so bad everyone else who has had this seem to not hurt much at akk

Still in a lot of pain after hysterectomy
Hun your surgery was only six days ago. The healing process is different for everyone. It takes some of us 5-6 weeks and we still get the sharp pains. You're doing the right thing, taking your meds, walking, and resting. You are on your way to recovering, the pain is just part of the process that we have to bare along with the help of our pain meds. Some of your days will be better than others. It will get better for you. I'm 5 wks post, and still hurt, tired easy, still sore deep inside. As time goes on, it'll get better and be more tolerable. Take care and keep us updated! (hugs)

Re: Still in a lot of pain
I don't know about others but I hurt a lot. On on day 12. Still hurts some but a lot better. I believe more people hurt than don't.

Re: Still in a lot of pain
I was still taking Percocet and Ibuprofen 2 weeks after my DVH. Please don't judge your experience based on others who may have healed quicker. You had a major surgery less than a week ago, pain is normal at this point. Rest and take care of yourself!

Re: Still in a lot of pain
Thank you for all your support. I do know that it's gonna take a while to heal. But all I was reading was people who didn't hurt at all or not much. I will keep my spirts up and keep healing! The best and same to all of you!

Re: Still in a lot of pain
I'll be 6 weeks post op tomorrow & I'm still aching. It took me a good 3 weeks before I wasn't in pain anymore. You need to rest up & take it slow. Each day will get better & better.

Re: Still in a lot of pain
Myki-
I had my LAVH the same day as you. I took all the pain meds they offered during my one night stay, and asked for more a couple of times that evening and the next morning. Day 2-3 for me were pretty good. My pain seemed to be controlled well with my meds (Percocet and ibuprofen) every 4-6 hours.
Then came day4...
It seems like it all hit at once! I couldn't get relief from the pain. My belly bruised horribly bad. I was shaky and could barely get to the bathroom without help. My insides feel like they are bruised and achy. My tummy muscles feel like they are stabbing and fiery pain. And for some strange reason it feels like my insides are falling out of me... But there aren't any insides left to fall???
People keep telling me I'll do better each day, but it sure feels like each day gets a little worse than the day before.
Anyway... You aren't alone in bouncing right back to your normal self. Some of us just take a bit longer to recover. We will get there. One day at a time! (((Hugs)))
