Tie shoes?

Good morning,
Yet another question has popped in my brain. Will I be able to tie my shoes anytime soon after a VH? I wear athletic shoes with supports in them for flat feet and usually tie they quite tight to keep secure on my feet. Should I just plan on flip flops and slippers for awhile?

Re: Tie shoes?

I am 10 days post op and I still can not tie my shoes. I think the slippers and flip flops would be best. (((())))

Re: Tie shoes?

I found bending or stooping very difficult at first after my surgery. I wore slide on slippers home from the hospital and for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Re: Tie shoes?

Everyone is different, but I put on my own socks and shoes and tied the shoes before I left the hospital. I sat on the edge of the hospital bed and brought my foot up to where I could reach it. (I had a TAH, not a VH.)

Re: Tie shoes?

I bought slip on tennis shoes, but I was able to tie my shoes by bringing my foot up to me a couple of days after I got home, and I had a TAH/BSO, so i would think you could. but everyone is differant
