2 weeks post op and i feel tired

I am 2 weeks post op from an abdominal hysterectomy and i still feel very tired. I feel very tired everytime I go out and take a 30 min walk and it feels like i dont have enough air in my lungs. I sleep most of the day and I also have problems with hemorroids. I spoke to other people that had the same procedure done and they feel fine two weeks post op, I wonder if my fibromyagia is have something to do with the recovery time.

Somebody's pulling your leg! I had a DvTH 4 1/2 wks ago and I'm still exhausted!! I did some shopping today and came home and stood in the yard while a friend trimmed our bushes. I am in the bed now cause it was just exhausting. You're find.

Re: 2 weeks post op and i feel tired

You are prefectly normal! Why don't you take shorter walks for now. You need to keep your circulation going, but 30 minutes is a very long walk this soon after surgery. At two weeks, lots of ladies are still just going back and forth in their own house, or taking short walks 2 houses up the street and back. Right now you need almost all of your energy for healing, and taking long walks isn't going to help you recover any faster.

Somewhere around 5 to 6 weeks post op the biggest, most energy-intensive part of healing seems to get done, and then you will start feeling a lot more energy. Meantime, get lost of rest, don't push yourself, and just go with the flow. Your energy will gradually improve, and you will have good days and very tired days. But no amount of walking right now will make the healing go faster. It just has to go at its own rate.

Re: 2 weeks post op and i feel tired

I am 4 weeks post op, I had a vag, and lapo complete hysterectomy with cervix also removed. My uterus was the size of a 4 month pregnancy, so some was removed through my navel and the uterus was pulled through my vagina. I am still walking very slowly and cannot stand very long. I too am amazed at people who are doing so much more than I am. I had lunch with 3 of my children. They drove and we visited one of my daughters house for a few hours. I sat on the couch mostly and I am exhausted!! Just going to dinner wears me out. My FMLA will end in 3 weeks and I am concerned about returning when I cannot even do much but sit. Did I mention I start to spot when I am up and moving around. If I stay in bed or in the recliner it will stop, then will return if I make myself food or walk from room to room. I keep reminding myself we all go our own pace, so I must need to take it slow.

Re: 2 weeks post op and i feel tired

You sound like you are coming along. I am 4 weeks out from same surgery and every day at 6:30 I am just done. My incision aches, I am tired and I just hit the bed. I have two more weeks off and I think I will be able to do it.

Re: 2 weeks post op and i feel tired

Geesh, a 30 min walk would wipe me out, regardless of surgery! I dont know who is telling you they are fine at 2 weeks post op, but i find it hard to believe. You had a major, major surgery and its going to take you a while before you get your strength back

Re: 2 weeks post op and i feel tired

I walked on the boardwalk at Coney Island last Sunday for about 45 minutes and needed to IMMEDIATELY go lie down. Not sit down, but lie down horizontally with a pillow under my knees. Was a bit too much for me. And I am FOUR weeks out. So I think you are just fine. Like TSPiper said, your body needs to put all its energy in to healing and if we put too much strain on it in other areas, healing will suffer and recovery will be slower. So, take it slow, take it easy....
