Elevated Liver Enzymes After Hysterectomy Anyone?? (updated)

Do you know what your levels were? Any symptoms? My u/s was normal. I really hope I don't need to get a biopsy!!!!

It may have nothing to do with your hysterectomy. I know for a while after my hysterectomy when anything went wrong with my body, I tried to find a way to tie it to surgery. Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic that lists some causes of high liver enzymes. Don't worry a lot. It may be something simple. Let us know how it goes.

I don't think it has to do with the hysterectomy directly - but it is most likely an uncommon but bad reaction to the macrobid I was on immediately following surgery for UTI due to being cathed. This all started two weeks post op. Liver was fine before surgery/med. That's the only thing we've been able to come up with so far.

My doctor actually told me that a major surgery can cause your other organs to start flaring up because the system has been interrupted. That is why she is waiting to retest.
These were my numbers 3 days after the surgery
Alk Phos 195 U/L
AST (SGOT) 59 U/L
ALT (SGPT) 96 U/L
Not really sure how high that is.

Update to elevated liver numbers. A month ago at 5 weeks post op my numbers were elevated. I just had them redone and all are back within normal range. I blame hydrocordon and Tylenol. She also threw in blood sugar was 89. All good to go.
