When did you feel safe to sneeze??

Hello fellow princesses

Ok I LOVE to sneeze, but not post op. I have been holding them in and making them go away. I KNOW they are going ot hurt. The other day I braced myself before hand and got ready for it, thinking maybe I could be ready to try now, but part way through the sneeze it hurt so bad and I stopped it. Now im terrified to sneeze and wont allow myself again.

When can I without it hurting?

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I am three weeks out and still not ready I either make them go away or have this silly little sneeze. I am thinking it will be a while, I dont think anything is gonna bust open but I am just a scaredy cat.

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I think I finally allowed myself to sneeze at 5 or 6 weeks, and I was thrilled because I had no pain and it actually felt really good! I was scared before the sneeze, but knew I couldn't stop it. Now, at 8 weeks, I feel great! My incision just feels funny/ticklish when I touch it, and I'm not doing sit-ups yet, but otherwise I'm happy.

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I saw a post on here the other day that said if you feel a sneeze coming on - tickle the roof of your mouth with the tip of your tongue and it makes the sneeze go away - and it works - sometimes!

When you are feeling a sneeze come on if you are standing bend over and hold your tummy. If you are sitting bring your legs up as far as you can and hold your tummy.

It helps with the pain and sudden impact to that area is relieved a bit.

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I am 4 days post op and I have sneezed one time. It hurt a little. If you cough or sneeze hold a pillow on your incision to relieve some pressure. I really don't think that you could pop a staple from a cough or sneeze. I have had 2 abdominal surgeries with staples and have never had a problem.

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I dont have staples, and im not worried about popping anything open, its just when I did try and sneeze Even braced myself real well, it hurt like heck. A burning, stabbing pain. It was so hot if felt like it was bleeding. My thaught is if it hurts like this it cant be good for the operative area.

Im definatly going to wait awhile longer before even attempting to let one go again. thanks ladies your great!

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I am coming up to 5wks post op, and caught a very nasty cold within a week of my Op, i can tell you now, it was not nice as i was constantly sneezing, and was in agony afterwards, it felt like the incision was going to burst, although my GP re-assured me it wouldnt, but told me that constant sneezing CAN delay the healing of the incision on the inside, as it puts pressure on the wound, which in my case it did, at 5wks im ok sneezing now, but still get like a tightening & a bit of pain with it, but nothing major.
Lynn i had that burning sensation too, as if someone was putting a hot poker over my scar!

When did you feel safe to sneeze??

I'm 6 weeks next week and haven't had a big sneeze yet,but I sneeze through my mouth and I always sneeze 3 times in a row, never less, don't know why! I have had to plug my nose to avoid sneezing.I know that my incision is healed but I don't want to experience any pain! I had to slam on my brakes in the car yesterday to avoid a car that was backing up out of a parking spot, boy, was that ever painful!!
