You're not alone in this concern and I hope some of your ((sisters)) who can relate will be along soon to share.

Obviously, everyone is different, but I lost 16 lbs following my hysterectomy, which also included the removal of an enormous fibroid.

Sending all good wishes for your surgery and recovery!

Hi NGC,

I had my surgery a week ago and as of yesterday I am down 21 pounds. I am going to try my best not to let them come back.

My surgery was 3 weeks ago and I lost 5 lbs. No large fibroids, and not overweight to begin with. Was a pleasant surprise! Now to just keep those extra pounds off!

I had hoped to loose weight after my surgery. I actually did not do too badly...I only gained 5 pounds and have had to be patient for that to come off, but it has and I am back at my pre-op start weight. I am still overweight but now I think I am past the biggest hurdle of the post-op weight loss. I think my body was holding lots of fluid through my healing. I know I still have healing to go, but I am feeling closer to my "normal" than I have in several months.
Best wishes and success with your surgery!

I think it all depends. I lost about 8 pounds a week after surgery, but then went back to normal after about 2-3 weeks.

As of 12 days post-surgery, I have lost 5.5 pounds. I was not overweight before, just hoping to keep it down during this period of very little exercise.

21 pounds? That is wonderful.. Did you gain weight due to fibroids? Do you still have your ovaries?

I put a lot of weight on, hope it is because of the huge fibroids, my surgery is Aug, 20th, Doc, plans on taking the ovaries. So that will put my in menopause...... Hope I loose the weight.
