Robitc 12/23/15, recocele, cystocele, hysterectomy, keeping ovaries

schd next week 12/23/15 for hysterectomy, (keeping ovaries as they continue to give many health benefits even after menopause). 3rd degree rectocele repair with mesh, cystocele repair and uterine prolapse. I have adenomyosis and even after menopause 3 years ago I continue to cramp and have back pain as if my period is about to start. I am a nurse in an OBGYN office and one of our docs will be doing my robotic, surgery is slotted for 120 minutes, I am anxious about being asleep that long. I do have a bowel adhesions he is going to release and we did discuss complication of that as well as me being a redhead that bleeds very easily, which is also a concern..I will keep you posted through my recovery

I can relate to your fear of being asleep for that long. This was my first real surgery, and I was very scared, but as I quickly found out, the process is very safe. My pre-op screening was quite thorough, and included a meeting with the anaesthesiologist, which left me feeling like I would be well looked after. As it turned out, I was asleep for a total of 3 hours, and came out of it just fine. And one more thing: I've heard that redheads can have issues with anaesthesia and pain medication, so definitely discuss that with your surgical team. Best wishes for your surgery; let us know how it goes!
