OWIE I hurt
MAN this is not fun! I am home from the hospital. I was a champ at passing gas at the hospital but when I got home I am now having a hard time passing it.
My dh doesnt want to go to go the store to get me some beano( all because he was at the hospital the entire time with me and is not lazy...GRRRRRR).
Oh ladies when you go home after your surgery PLEASE make sure you take it easy. I moved and kinked too much on one side and then it throbbed for awhile.
OH boy this is going to be a challenge. I mean I feel OK but still hurt and also take your time with stairs!

I'm glad you're home, froglove. I used Gas-Ex to help with the gas. A lot of women have said that hot tea did the trick, too, so maybe you could persuade DH to make you some?
Take good care of yourself, , and

You JUST had surgery! You had an organ removed! I think you're only supposed to do stairs once a day so soon. Plz rest and pamper the Princess. I hope you'll feel better soon!
Have DH get some GasX as well. Anything to keep things moving and less painful. Those gas pains that take a whack on your sore bits on the way out are the worst!

OWIE I hurt
Hi - Another trick that might work is chewing gum. The nurses in the hospital suggested this to me and it seemed to help things get moving. Also -- take Gas-X regularly, and walk as much as possible. It will get better -- it just takes a while...

Take it easy, that is what will help the most. Chewing gum helped me get my bowels moving too.

OWIE I hurt
Hi Froglove,
We had surgery the same day, I think you had DaVinci too, right? And for cervical issue? Mine was cervical cancer, can't remember if/what you said your dx was.
Anyway, the gas-x thin strips that many of the ladies here recommended has helped me soooo much. If your husband hasn't gone yet to get you something for gas pain, really, call a friend or family member to go for you, or try one of the other suggestions these ladies have made. The gas changes things from tender to painful, and that's just no good.
I've had to do some stairs at home as well, master bedroom is on the top floor and that's where I'm most comfortable, but I take them very slowly and hold the rail, and I have a catheter for two weeks so I've got that to hold on to as well. I try to limit my trips up and down, others are doing a lot of fetching for me, so only twice for me so far.
I have insomnia as well, and I found out after my cone biopsy over a month ago that surgery really messes with my ability to get to and stay asleep for a while afterwards. But I am taking it easy, and hope you are relaxing as much as possible too.
And jobo is so right about walking too, I feel better after even a short walk.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! You are all wonderful. My dh is out now getting some groceries and my beano and other stuff. We are supposed to get 8 inches of snow today so hes trying to get ti done before it gets too bad.
Anyways I am feeling better today. Had a hard time sleeping last night sorta. I mean I slept better here at home but still tossed and turned all night. I was also up just about every hour peeing but it was nice not to have a catheter in anymore.

Gas-X was a great help. Also the hot tea. It does get better & for me the gas pains were the worst part of the surgery. Take it easy! Best wishes.
