Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

I used maybe 5 pads when I first came home from the hospital, then switched to pantiliners. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since surgery and I think I have used 3 packs of panitliners. I am having more spotting than I did at the beginning so am glad I stocked up before surgery so I don't have to ask someone else to buy them. Good luck with your surgery!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

I'm so glad someone asked this! I had been wondering if the pack of regular pads I bought would be enough. And if I don't use them all I have a 13 year old DD who will be needing them soon enough.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

I had minimal spotting off and on so panty liners were enough. I did use the pads that they gave me at the hospital -- I don't have anyone to pass them down to.

on your surgery. We are here for you.

Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

I'm up to day 14 post op and have not lost a drop of blood. No spotting, no bleeding, no pink discharge - nothing. Starting to wonder why. I had a total hysterectomy (and BS). My surgeon told me that I had bleeding problems throughout the surgery (took nearly five hours because they had to keep stopping to stem the flow), I've been on asprin for years and always had super heavy periods. I know I should be delighted but I'm wondering if this is normal?

Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

Panty liners I had been using it for about a month, after the surgery I didn't need to use pads or liners, but after 5 days I started to have a discharge, not a lot but enough to have to use the liners.
It is light yellow, and I am still using it.
4 1/2 weeks after surgery.
I just wonder when will it stop?

Pantiliners. I am 2 weeks post DaVinciTH and I had only some initial bright red blood immediately post-op at the hospital. They gave me a pad.
After that first night, I have had no spotting or bleeding at all and it is so wonderful not to feel like a crime Scene victim anymore! Bliss!

Upcoming hysterectomy: Post op pad needs?

Was wondering the same thing. My LAVH is coming up on 12/16.
I've been bleeding so heavy from my fibroids & ready for no more blood. In fact, I was in the ER yesterday from 3pm to 1am & they had to give me 2 units of blood do I have enough for surgery next week.
I am hopeful for no more bleeding or perhaps just a little spotting a short while & little pain.
