Patch & Headaches

Posted this question on the wrong thread earlier, I'm going to try again. Does anyone have experience with headaches the day they change their patch (Vivelle 1.0). I have tried leaving the old patch on to help with my hormone level, but still have a migraine like headache for several hours. I have never had magraines before. Do you think this is related to the patch?

I had surgery (everything removed) May 17 and have done good with the exception of hot flashes, and these headaches. Would love some advice or information.

Have learned so much from this site and the experiences of others. Thanks!

Patch & Headaches

I change my patch twice a week and work it so it is exactly half way through. I change it Tues about 7 am and Friday evening about 7 pm. It may or may not make a difference, but it makes me think I am keeping the dose as level as possible.
Do you get the headaches when you have the two patches on at the same time, so an increased dosage?

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have had the headaches with both patches on and with only one, so have tried it both ways. I change on Wednesday am and Saturday mid day.

Patch & Headaches

Hi Hormonal headaches can be triggered either by low estrogen levels (in which case they'd be worst right before you change your patch), or by changes in estrogen levels (which could happen right after you change it).

Are you having any other symptoms? I'm wondering if perhaps your patch dose is just a little bit low for you, so it's letting your level get down too low before you put on the new patch, resulting in a big jump when you put on the new one. If you're also having trouble sleeping, or night sweats (though not everyone gets them), or mood problems, or heart palpitations, you might ask your DR if you could try the next higher dose patch and see if that improves things.

-Linda
