Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still bleeding

Hi, welcome to the post op side.. Bleeding can occur..I would say for 8 weeks is a bit long. We're told that we should be recovered by 6-8 weeks. (Reality, fully recovered takes longer).. Id suggest contacting your Dr. When was/is your post op exams? Is the bleeding daily? Your Dr should examIne you to be sure you are healing correctly, to check vaginal cuff & to be sure you dont have an infection. Did you have a known issue goIng on post op? If you kept your ovaries, then you may continue to ovulate. If you kept both your ovaries & cervix then mini periods may continue as well. If your bleeding has been continual, then ask your Dr to check if you are anemic. Let us know. I hope you get this resolved.

Have you been to the doctor? Contacted her? That would have me in her office, wanting answers.

I'm really sorry!

Hi went to GP after 2 weeks had a swab . Antibiotics . Still bleeding. GP checked me and cauterised with silver nitrate stick. Bleeding. Cauterised again. Still bleeding. Consultant said it will eventually stop. And it's 'normal'!! I'm still wearing a pad day and night. Ahhh!!

I'm with Cinl11. I had a TAH and only had light spotting the first day after surgery and nothing since then (over 13 weeks). Go to the Doctor and get it checked it. More than likely, it's something they can easily remedy, like a misplaced stitch.

Re: 8 weeks post hysterectomy and still bleeding; UPDATED - still bleeding at 11 weeks

I'm at 2 1/2 week post laper scopic hysterectomy removal of everything but ovaries. I started spotting 4 days ago and it's becoming more. Went to dr to day ( not my surgeon he is out of town of course) this Dr said yes I am bleeding more than normal but my suture line looks good. So just make sure I go to my next apt on the 27th. Been pretty crampy like it's that time of the month. The dr also removed my bandages and Steri-Strips and now one of my incisions gets sharp pain when I bend the over or twist. So frustrated.

I would suggest you not be bending & twisting. Squat if you need to pick something up. Your body needs rest. Just some walking-inside is OK many times thru the day, then rest..Are you sure you're not over doing it? More active than you should be?? No lifting, no house cleaning. Are you on pain meds still? If not, youll need to discuss with your Dr... I was on ibrophrophen post op. I think it helps with inflammation. Its normal to get twinges, stabbing, tingling sensations from incision site. Even numbness bc nerves were cut. You are still early in the recovery phase.. Despite laproscopic surgery, its still a big surgery...Unfortunately, Drs have a way of forgetting to explain to us... Feel better!

Ugh! Sorry to hear that you're still bleeding.. Is it light bleeding or spotting? Do you have discomfort too? Be sure youre not over doing it.. I know stircrazy hits, but your recovery is important...Just little walking, then rest, no house work.. What is your Drs explanation why you're still bleeding? s/he can do an ultrasound to better determine whats going on... Feel better!
