9 days post hysterectomy, Bladder issues

It has been 9 days since my hysterectomy, every time I stand up or move I feel like I have to pee. I always feel pressure on my bladder. I hate this feeling!! Is this normal and when will this go back to normal?

I am on day 6 and I am experiencing the same issue.

Sounds like bladder spasms, and it's a fairly common complaint post-op. None of our internal organs like being messed with and tend to act a little wonky afterwards - ovaries, bladders, bowels. Could be the anesthesia, could be the meds, could be just the trauma of surgery. Like many Sisters, I had all 3 of those post-op maladies. The bladder spasms I had made it difficult to start a stream, tricky to keep it going, and I was never quite sure I was empty. Sometimes I'd continue 10 minutes later. For me it lasted maybe 2 weeks, maybe just over that.

If yours are painful or not decreasing in frequency, give your doctor's office a call. There are prescriptions available to help. Also, just continue to monitor for fever, cloudy urine, burning when going - could be a bladder infection.
