post op swollen belly.

I am on my 3rd week after hysterectomy. I am wondering if wearing a bikini cut style underwear might worsen the swelling in my belly since I do find it tight around my belly when I wear one. Please HELP !

My belly would be more tender and hurt worse if I wore anything constricting on it. You can always try it and be ready to change into more comfortable underwear.

I guess it just depends on your tolerance. I couldn't not and still cannot stand anything around me at that area. I did get crazy and wear a pair of tights to work last week and threw them away immediately when I got home. What was I thinking? I still wear the granny panties. They just feel good.

I'm 8 weeks and I still can't wear nylons. I wear trouser socks with my dresses and skirts. I'm afraid one of these days I'll find them at my ankles!

I can't stand to even wear underwear!!! I am only 10days post op but can't stand to have anything touch me. The lounge pants I have been wearing are huge but comfortable. If I put anything else on I get too much gas pains. Thanks goodness I have had NO bleeding since surgery or I would be in trouble. I couldn't even wear binkini undies after my c-sections the last c-section was 12 years ago and it still bothered me. Funny how thinks like that work.

I too didn't wear panties, I wasn't much of a panty wearer before surgery and my swelly belly made me look 6months pregnant! I took pictures and compared to pregancy pics and yup, the belly looked the same. It took about three weeks to get back to a trim tummy, I have a waist again, hips, and I put my belly button jewelry back in for my three week post op. I had an LAVH and my incisions are about an inch - one on each side, I think panties would have been very uncomfortable rubbing against them.

I used my softest bikini thongs and positioned the edges around my "buttonholes" - very comfy....
