Re: 5 days post hysterectomy: Increasing anxiety and worry for no apparent reason

I'm so glad to find this thread and see that I'm not alone. I had my LAVH last Thursday 4/21 and everything has gone really well. Even though my ovaries are intact, I'm having unexplainable mood swings and almost constant anxiety. I can't pinpoint anything I have to be worried about - pain is manageable, incisions are healing, BM came on day 4 with no difficulty - so why was I crying off and on throughout the day? I know I, too, have trouble letting go of control and lying on the couch like a queen while my DH bumbles through laundry and meals drives me insane! I thought I would be so happy to have this surgery behind me and relieved that the outcome was complication-free, so this sadness and worry is definitely not what I expected to feel. I'm hoping my ovaries are maybe still a bit sedated and not putting out their usual hormonal cocktail. Wake up, dammit!

5 days post hysterectomy: Increasing anxiety and worry for no apparent reason

I'm there! Feeling good, still a little gas but no pain, only taking ibuprofen twice daily, belly stitches come out tomorrow, no problems with urination, the only aggravating thing is I feel swollen and scratchy inside my vagina. I am so blessed....lost both ovaries and have not experienced a single hot flash (although I suspect I've been going through menopausal changes for a while before the surgery). I tell myself to quit looking for problems and be grateful things are going so well. I'll talk to the doctor tomorrow about my feelings. HRT is not an option so I need to find a way to deal with the changes as they come. You guys have been a great comfort to me. I don't feel uncomfortable expressing what I feel.
THANK YOU

Re: 5 days post hysterectomy: Increasing anxiety and worry for no apparent reason

Had mine done 4/21 abdominally. I am doing okay but I hate laying around. I want to help with my 2 year old so I have been sad that I can't move as easy as I want to.

I kept my overies so I don't think that hormones are nesessarily the issue. I am thinking that I am feeling useless and I want to be nack to myself, not even 100% just enough to sit around and move without worring.
