fever

One of the things to watch out for and call the doctor for after surgery is fever. This may be a dumb question but if someone is on pain meds that have acetaminphen in them then wouldn't that reduce the body temperature if an infection of sort was setting in? How would one know if the did have a temp?

Re: fever

It will mask a fever a bit but you'd still know because you'd have the regular icky feeling that comes with it, plus pain and a low grade temp. If you suspect a fever, skip the next dose of Tylenol and then check.

Re: fever

You will know when you are sick based on how you feel. I had no fever but felt like crap. Went to the doc today 11 days post op and lo and behold?? An infection of my vaginal cuff. I agree with the earlier post that a fever is one of many indicators.

Re: fever

I'm running a fever 5 days post op. I'm on Motrin and Tylenol. Fever is around 99.7 even taking those meds. My post op instructions say to call if fever goes over 100.5 so I'm watching it
