A Big Thanks To My Friends Here...

For those of you who helped me a few weeks back get through what at the time seemed to be a huge task, I thank you.

I never wanted to go out and get a second opinion, but after talking to a few of you, and by my own doc's advice I did. I went to see the voted 2005-2006 best OB surgeon in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. He made me feel like I wasn't crazy, my pains and problems were real, and I was to be treated as such. I would have never chosen to go and see him, or a male doc for that matter, but his experience, kindness, and all else made me feel that I was given this huge chance to fix my life. Instead of having to take my O's right now he said that I can just take my Uterus out and if my hormones still aren't re-adjusting to the new way of life, he can go in and take them out at a later date taking only a 20 minute outpatient surgery, with a two day recovery time. He suggested that I can either take or leave my cervix, just as long as I continue to get yearly check ups due to my past record of displasia.

I'm so happy, and I really want to thank everyone here. With out you, I'm not sure I would have had the strength to go out there and get the help that I needed, all because my doc made me feel that I was making the wrong choice about the having a kid thing.

I am a "poster child" (who knew) and Dr. N is going to use me as the subject in his class for other surgeons to learn how to do this new kind of hyst so that more MN doc's are up to date with the technology offered these days. I'm on the table the 2nd. of March 2006.

Thanks again ladies!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Mel888!

You sound like you are in a great frame of mind for your upcoming hysterectomy, and that's terrific to hear. When you get the chance, please "update your profile" to include your surgery date and type (I assume you are having an LSH?) and that will help us to help you better!

Many s and Best Wishes to you from another Minnesoooootan!

I haven't decided if it will be a LSH or LAVH, I'll work on that!
