Total Laparascopic Hyst tomorrow 7/29...scared

Hi all,

I'm 44 and I've suffered from debilitating endo since my 20's...fertility treatments that were unsuccessful in my 30's, two laparoscopic ablations, and now periods that are so heavy that I'm anemic. Super plus tampon and a pad? My uterus just laughs..gone through in a half hour. My last period lasted 12 days. So, I AM looking forward to a better quality of life...at the same time I'm sad...and mostly scared!!! So nervous. Luckily I've been through two laps already, so I know kind of what to expect with anesthesia and the gas...but they didn't take an organ back then so I'm not sure how bad the pain will be! Also, I was much younger and in better shape. Anyway, im just nervously blabbering...good luck to all of you!!!

Re: Total Laparascopic Hyst tomorrow 7/29...scared

I was just diagnosed with Endometriosis in June after a diagnostic laparoscopy, D&C, and hysteroscopy. I've had pain and super-heavy periods since day one. Fortunately Depo Provera stopped my periods for the last year-and-a-half. But I still have daily pelvic pain and period-like cramping. I have Endometriosis all over my bowels and colon. My ovaries are pinned down by it. I began a 6-month course of Lupron this month in an attempt to shrink the Endometriosis on my bowel. Otherwise, there is a 15-20% chance of nicking my colon during the hysterectomy. I will also have a colorectal surgeon on hand during the hysterectomy.

The ladies on this site recommend seeing an Endometriosis specialist if at all possible https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=533281 Sometimes a hysterectomy can be avoided all together if you can hav all the implants removed via excision. There is also a great Endometriosis Forum https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=236on here.

It's normal to be sad and scared. This is major surgery! You wouldn't be human if you didn't feel something. Good luck!

Hang in there!
