Six Months Post Op!

I haven't "tuned in" to this board in quite a while but wanted to give you an update. I had a TAH/BSO on May 5th so, counting by months, I will be 6 months post op on November 5th! I have done very well and really have had very few complaints. My hormone replacement seems to be working fine and I know I am blessed.

The main thing I have noticed, though, is really kind of hard to explain but it's an emotional difference and it's subtle. I do feel "different" than before. Maybe it's because I don't have all the hormones now -- just estrogen. My anxiety level seems to be higher than before, even with the pending surgery, and this makes no sense to me. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? Other than that, everything seems to be fine.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and encourage those of you who are either waiting for surgery or have just come through it. YOU WILL HEAL!

God bless you all,

BUF (TAH/BSO 5/5/00)

Six Months Post Op!

Hi BUF
Thanks for returning with your encouragement and your progress. So nice to hear from those who have moved on. You have me beat by 2 weeks. I'm gonna celebrate my 6 month mark. My how time flys.
May I suggest you post over in the Road less traveled with your questions because they are further in their recovery as you are. You may get more responses there. AND the hormone jungle ladies are very helpful also. So maybe a post there too.
Email me with any questions.
Blessings

Six Months Post Op!

Buf-
Being 2 wks. post op I don't have any advice for you. I am emotional but it is early for me yet. I just wanted to say thanks for the encouraging post.
Some days I feel better than others, but I look forward to the day when I am where you are now!

Six Months Post Op!

Hello Buf - Good to hear from you. I had tah/bso 3/22 so I'm a little in front of you...there have been a couple of times when I seemed to be a little more stressed...but it's not near like what it was prior to surgery...and it usually passes within a week. Kind of reminds me of the old PMS..so it could be related to HRT..or it could be non-medical related too...but have no complaints about HRT yet...and sooooo glad I had hyster. When I tend to feel more stressed I try to limit my caffeine and sugar intake..guess it's all kind of "hit and miss" for awhile. If it really bothers you then I'd suggest keeping some type of "journal" that includes dates, times and what you're feeling...then when you go back to gyn for re-check discuss this with him/her. Tracking what's going on with your body and feelings will sometimes give some valuable clues. It was good to hear from you...wishing you continued good health.
