Muscle and Joint pain

I don't really have an answer for this, but I will follow this thread to see what others have experienced.

I am 4 1/2 mo post op, and the past two wks I have noticed some fluid retention also. I am not taking anything (dr. did not recommend hormones for me). So, I am curious about that as well.

Best wishes to you and hope you have an event-free recovery as I did.

Muscle and Joint pain

You're not alone, Robin.
I'm 9 weeks post op and fighting joint problems. I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, but notice it more now that I am trying to get my hormones regulated. I was on Vivelle 1mg patch plus Cenestin .625. I just switched to taking 2 Cenestin .625 and not the patch ( it was bothering my skin and it seemed like the hormone just didn't last long enough for the 2x week change). I'll let you know if my pain is better with a change in HRT. I have read that joint pain is a sign that your estrogen is low. So maybe talk to your doc to see if you should try increasing your HRT.

Good luck and let me know how you are doing,
Leslie

Muscle and Joint pain

Hi Leslie,

Thank You for your reply. I did see the dr. and basically he told me he didn't think that my aches and pains were related to my surgery. I did have muscle and joint discomfort before surgery but I really feel it has increased. I was once told I had a non-specific rhumatilogical sp?? disorder (whatever that is) So, he said take advil for about 6 weeks if it doesn't improve go see the dr. that I was seeing before (rhumetology is out of his area). As far as the swelling he suggested I could try cutting back on Estadiol to (1) one day and then (1/2) the next day and see if this might help. So mind boggleing! Then he did another silver-nitrate treatment ....Yuk and unless I have any other concerns I am officially released. okay that is my story ..........How are you doing?

Muscle and Joint pain

Hi Robin,
Well it sounds like things are headed in a good direction for you I'm glad your doctor has referred you on if your pain doesn't get better. Have you ever been tested for rhumatoid arthritis? I'm glad that you are all cleared to carry on!
I'm hanging in there- still trying to find just the right amt of hormones, but for the most part feel pretty ok.
Let me know how you are feeling and if you ever want to pm me- feel free to
Leslie <)

Muscle and Joint pain

I went to the Dr last week with the same complaints. Had my back and right hip xrayed on Monday. Came back with arthritis in my lower back. I NEVER had any of these problems before my hyst 2 1/2 years ago. I can't even bend over or sit Indian style anymore. It's sometimes even painful to get up and walk around. I'm only 39. I know a couple of others who never had arthritic type problems til after their hysts. I find it hard to believe it's not related.

Muscle and Joint pain

Hi Robin, I just posted a reply on this very subject. I had hip pain before this surgery and now it is worse than before I had surgery. I mentioned it to my gyn and she didn't seem too worried about it but I am. I am 36 years old and I feel like I need a hip replacement. Both hips hurt and the pain only lets up when I get up and walk around. I will also be following your post. Maybe someone can give us some answers. God BLess

Muscle and Joint pain

oh my goodness...i have been complaining that mine has gotten progressively worse since my TAH 11 mos ago. It will be a yr 8/15 and i feel like an old lady getting out of bed each day. I had a lot of adhesions and she said she did a lot of disecting...particularly right side. now the pain radiates into my right cheek (butt) and into the upper thigh when its really bad. I have an on-going script for 30 lortabs a month. i get so excited when i'[m 15 days into the prescription and i've only taken 5-8. then it hits (adhesion? monster) and I go thru the rest the remainder of the 2 wks. right now, its been really aggressive. pain in my right pelvic area intense at times (an 8-9 on a scale)...and it usually doesn't last 2 wks without a few days break. I made an appt. to see her but can't get in until 9/2. my concern is that she has never (pre=op) or post op and since then tested my hormone level. I'm taking estsrotest cause before my surgery the cenestin alone did nothing for lack of sex drive so she changed it feb. 04....i don't even care if i'm on hormones. the testosterone doesn't seem to do much. my gen dr. just put me on zoloft and that seems to make me more "friendly" and cuddly with my dh, but i know he's tired of hearing it hurts all the time....whats a woman to do? I swear if men had these issues there WOULD be a cure...there is viagra isn't there? oh well, i am just tired of being in pain. should i consult a surgeon? i've already seen a second opinion ob/gyn and a urologist in the months following my surgery. thanks and sorry to hijack your problem....i've learned so much from this website and my ss

Muscle and Joint pain

Robin
I just read a post in the hormone jungle and one of the ladies responses to a question was she had been taking just estradiol and felt like she was 80 (really achy, sore joints, tender breasts, etc. -she also was a nurse) Then she started taking progesterone and testosterone with the estradiol, and it all went away in a couple of days and she felt great. Perhaps it could be something like this. You didn't say if you were on any other hormones except the estradiol. Just a thought. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.

Muscle and Joint pain

I am too experiencing hip and joint pain. I was diagnosed with bursitus and had physical therapy along with 800mg of ibuprofen 3x day (ugh). I felt better while doing it, but now am back to feeling like I aged 10 years overnight. I plan on looking into the menopause vitopak I read about here to see if that will help. I've tried acupuncture, massage and polarity. I've had a CTscan and blood work done. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting all my calcium needs met as much as I try. I'm taking epsom salt baths (for magnesium), b-vitamins, and fish oil tablets. This is a great site to get ideas as it is clear the medical profession still needs to learn so much more about hysts.
