Length of Time In Hospital

I have pains after I pee....not bladder infection or UTI pain, but after I empty my bladder....can't describe it... I had the bladder sling thing, and while it works amazingly with the sneezing and coughing, I just wonder about the weird sensations after I empty it.

I also awoke from surgery in alot of pain! All I could do was moan. Once I got into my room, they finally hooked up my morphine. I've had other types of surgeries, and never felt pain after them, but this one was horrible. After I got my first couple of doses of morphine however, I was great. Didn't even need it as often as I was allowed.
I'm feeling weird things with my bladder...not sure if it's what they call bladder spasms or not. Not really painful, but the best way I can describe it is if you've ever been pregnant, and the baby kicks on your bladder when it's full and you're very pregnant...that's what this feels like. BTW...didn't have any type of bladder repairs, just the TAH.

My bladder pains are strange as well - I first felt them just after going off paid meds. It felt like someone had reached up and pulled a string or something. They were so quick and sharp they made me jerk and I scared both my cats off the bed! I get them once in a while still and I find if I don't empty my bladder often, I can feel something - hard to explain. It hurts to press on my tummy there still and today I can tell I've worn pants for too long. Too much pressure I suppose.

i didn't have a lot of pain. mine was pretty simply though. just took cervix and uterus. no complications or repairs. i had one of those pumps that i could hit the button to administer the pain meds and i really didn't need to use it all that often. i was sent home with tylenol with codiene and i didn't need to use it very often. when i got home, i was a little sore if i found myself overdoing it by being up too long or if i found myself leaning over.

what should I take to the hospitol. Should I take a gown or can you wear pajama pants? I am also worried about the after effects of this. I have read that women go through all kinds of changes like depression and mood swings. I'm not sure what to expect.

i took gowns and pajama pants/shorts. the gowns are more comfy and easier to deal with. i bought a couple of sizes bigger than normal (in my panties too!) and found that this was a good idea. i also took pantiliners, but didn't need them (they say some women have vaginal drainage...i didn't).

I took pajamas..I LOVED having comfy pants to wear while I laid on the bed...I moved around a lot, I was uncomfortable. The day/night of the surgery I wore their gowns. You don't feel like changing or doing anything, and you will have a catheter the first night. I had drainage for three weeks post surgery, and the hospital provided the pads. I wore granny panties and loved them! My hospital provided me with slipper socks to keep my feet warm and to walk the halls. They were great! I brought them home!

I haven't had many changes since my TAH. I am still the same Colleen. I still have bowel issues, but nothing like before. I also have trouble sleeping, but no hot flashes, depression or mood swings...
