Change in Taste

I thought this was just me. I'm now one year later and my tastebuds are completely different. A cereal and a certain soda I used to have almost daily, can't look and the container or box in the grocery store without getting queazy. No longer have a craving for sweets. and the strangest one -- I don't drink alcohol anymore. I used to really love a good glass of wine or a beer, but no more. No desire and the smell turns me off. My husband says I've turned into a cheap date.

Has anyones tastes changed?

I thought it was just me. I am glad that I am not alone on this one. Things that I used to like turn my stomach. I have been going overboard with fruits. I used to eat them before but nothing like now.

Has anyones tastes changed?

Hmmmm, I am eating because I have to and need to not because I have any appetite. That could be a good thing if it continues.......

Has anyones tastes changed?

I cannot drink but a few sips of coffee now and was a diehard coffee drinker prior to my surgery. Also, I cannot stand the smell or taste of my favorite potato chips so maybe this is a good thing for me???

One thing I have been craving is yogurt and those dill pickle hamburger chips - LOL (not together though). I only drink water now.

Wanted to add that I lost 15 pounds in the past 2 weeks!!!

Has anyones tastes changed?

After spending a few hours deciding what I could stomach for dinner, it was so funny to see this post tonight!

I'm less than a week post-op and my appetite is really off. Which is, to quote Martha Stewart, "a very good thing" since I need to drop some weight, so I hope this continues!

BTW, mashed potatoes from Applebee's ended up being my dinner tonight. I've also been eating lots of melon and drinking mucho water.

Wow, I'm actually envious of all of you who have lost a taste for sweets and other foods. My sense of taste is unfortunately very normal. Everything tastes good! agh, I'm going to gain 100 pounds if I don't start behaving myself better!

I know what you mean about fruit -- I crave and can't stop eating cherrys. Never ate them before. Also, I crave milk (and was never a milk drinker). Ah the wonders of the body!! At least with all the fruit I'm not having any "other" problems, in other words my tubes are working just fine, thank you.

Has anyones tastes changed?

My first couple of weeks after, I just didn't have much appetite. I can only envy those of you who have lost your taste for sweets and chocolate! I have to fight against being a sugar-holic. The last few days I have really craved chocolate and yesterday was my first time to tear up. At bedtime, I thought my ovaries must be working and I'm ovulating, but savored the fact I would have no period.

Has anyones tastes changed?

It's so good to know I'm not alone in this!! I've been thinking these exact things for weeks and thought I must be out of my mind!! We raise our own beef and it has been the hardest thing ever to not care for it. Steak not a problem, I've just been able to eat a hamburger lately but without a bun...doesn't make sense, but go figure! I've also been craving fruit of any kind but especially melons and tomatoes. I too can't look at chocolate the way I used too. I guess that's a good thing, since I could stand to lose a few lbs. I'm kind of hoping that craving doesn't come back! LOL!!

Has anyones tastes changed?

What I am going through right now (a week and a half since TAH) is I can only eat what I crave or i feel sick. I am not talking normal dnner food either..like today I want those pretzles you make in the toaster over with russian dressing, I know I wont be able to hold anyhting else down until I have that. How odd is this? I hope this goes away soon. The other day I could not eat anything BUT a Ceaser Salad.
