New & scheduled for dVH on May 19th....

I am a married mom of 4 kids (ages 10-16). I started seeing the doctor in December specifically because of heavy periods and was looking at various options to treat this. A pelvic ultrasound showed a cyst on my right ovary. I was sent back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound, though everyone was sure it would be cyclical and be gone. It wasn't. It has remained and grown since that time and a new cyst has grown and stayed on my left ovary as well.

In discussions with the doctor about removing the right cyst, we discussed oblation, but I decided if he was going to remove the ovary anyway, why not take the uterus, too? He said I was a candidate for the da Vinci surgery and I am now scheduled for May 19th. The plan is that he take 1 ovary and the uterus, though he may take both ovaries if the other looks bad.

My ONLY hesitation in this surgery is that he has only done 6 procedures with this new equipment. Do you think this is of concern?

I am also wondering if I should discuss him taking my cervix. I had a LEEP procedure done in 1997 and often have marginal pap smears.

Thanks for any suggestions you all can offer!

Rachael

Re: New & scheduled for dVH on May 19th....

Hi Rachael and I am relativley new here but I promise you, you are gonna love it here!!! I too have a cyst on my right ovary. Mine is complex. I go to a surgeon on Thursday hopefully to get a hysetectomy date. I also have a stage II prolapsed uterus that needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later. I have already been putting it off for over 1 1/2 yrs.

Anywho, as far as your Dr is concerned, you know some people are just naturally good with machines/equipment. Maybe he is one of them. I am sending you tons and tons of positive vibes for a smooth surgery and hope that all goes well. Please keep us informed and we are so glad that you found us!!!!
