Funky Scar Tissue?

I had a TAH on Novemeber 10th. I went to my 2 week check up today. Incision on the outside has healed just great. I started having a weird pain and feeling a little lump on the left side of my abdomen above the incision yesterday. I asked the dr. about it...he said it's scar tissue. Has anyone had this before? HOw long does it take to go away? Other than that irritating pain and the lump I feel great! The other side feels good. Can anyone help mt?

Re: Funky Scar Tissue?

Scar tissue doesn't go away. If he sends you to a pelvic floor physical therapist, (or you send yourself if your insurance doesn't require referral), they can often help break scar tissue up, but they can't make it disappear completely.

Re: Funky Scar Tissue?

It is way too early for you to have developed scar tissue. My incision was pretty rigid in different areas for about 5-6monhs from memory, now not...Massaging it at this stage would be the absolute worst thing you can do, it is nowhere near healed yet, why break up healing tissue????
Good luck with your recovery, it takes awhile!!

Re: Funky Scar Tissue?

Yes, do let it be known ;-) I did not mean you should even think about breaking anything up on your own or when you should do it. Your doc. and/or physical therapist would be in charge of that.

Re: Funky Scar Tissue?

Hi,
I had my TAH BSO the same day. The last of the steri strips just came off. I have recently noted the same finding only on the right end of my incision. If I feel along the line it's kinda firm in general but an obvious lumpier area there. Slight tenderness but no swelling or redness so I'm thinking it's just the healing process as I also feel really great overall.

Re: Funky Scar Tissue?

Thanks Ladies...things are working out just fine. There is no weird pain or pulling there now. The little lump is a bit smaller. It's no cause for concern for me now. Thanks again!
