bulges above incision - is this normal?

Hi - I have what seem like moving bulges above my incision; I'm wondering if this is normal, aka 'swelly belly' ?
it seems to be worse in the evening.
it concerns me because my incision is a tight line, and then right above it feels like my insides pile up on top of the line.
I've been experiencing a lot of constipation, and wondering if this might be my intestines - sorry I'm no expert in anatomy! But it doesn't look like just a fat belly (which would be consistently smooth)
the incision is so tight (and also very numb, yet simultaneously my skin around it is very sensitive) I'm concerned that it'll be an indented line with bulges poking out and my belly fat piling over it forever...?
(this question is not I'm not concerned with being fat, just what to expect or if the bulges are normal...)
thanks

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

Hi - just to reassure you - my incision sounds exactly the same. Asked my doc to check it yesterday and she said it was perfectly normal.

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

I asked the same question yesterday as I'm not liking the looks one bit. Doc said it is normal and will reduce greatly by my 4 week appointment.

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

My incision is vertical and I'm having tenderness and swelling on my rt. side and I'm 5 wks post op. Went back to work yesterday and by the middle of the day it started bothering me. But as I read the posts many have that problem once they start back to work, depending on if your on your feet all day.

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

Hi! Your incision looks also the same as mine. I call it "the smile in the middle" because that is what it looks like, lol. Feeling is the same too, numb and tender. What really helps me is to use a support binder, specially at work. I return to work on right after my 4th week and th binder really helps.

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

Hi, I have the same problem...I was concerned with the incision prior to my surgery. My doctor had warned me about the "bulge"! After the surgery I told him - now I know what you are talking about when you said the "bulge" he laughed and he told me, that it looks worse for us because we are looking from different angle and not straight at. So I am just going to believe that it is not as bad as I think.... ;o)

good luck

PS. I find it better when I wear tight panties...

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

Hi have had two emergency c -sections before my surgery on the 19th Jan. A lot of swelling above scar is brusing both inside and out and a rush of fluids to your pain area. It does go down over time as do most of the lumps and bumps. I have had always ended up with a little overhang above the scar but after a while you don't notice it, when you are fully recovered it is almost non existant plus the more you excercise later on the less it's noticable. the scar fades really well too.
Just take things easy just now and your body swelling will go down when its fully healed, worry makes it take longer.
Be good to yourself

Re: bulges above incision - is this normal?

hi - i'm now at 6 months, and still have the swelly belly and the weird bulge on the right...but i hadn't seen ysto's response until just now - and worry must be it! god knows I worry constantly, so this is a good reminder to stop worrying so much!

and I did end up finding very comfy smooth support panties - at target!

should have checked back on here earlier but didnt know I had answers - thank you.
