Need help ASAP about cervix

i kept my cervix and ovaries and i'm so glad i did! i dont have any mini-periods. i read the cervix provided pelvic support and was better to keep for sexual pleasure (dont know if thats true since i didnt have a problem before or after..just heavy periods) and the ovaries for hormones. i'm very happy with my decision and my recovery was easy.

Your signature line says you are having a LAVH but keeping your cervix. Is that possible? I thought that the cervix had to be taken with any type of vaginal hysterectomy. I would love to hear more if anyone knows.

As far as the original question on this thread, I am having my cervix removed. Because I'm having my hysterectomy for endometriosis and possible adenomyosis, my doctor felt that leaving my cervix was not a good option. I was also terrifed of being in the statistical minority of
having mini periods. If I were to go through all this and then have a period, even if it was light, I would be devastated. My periods are very painful and I'm ready to be 100% done with them.

The ultimate decision will have to be between you and your doctor. I wish things were black and white but they aren't. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next. Good luck!

Good luck in your decision!

Thank you all for your replies. It has made me more comfortable about leaving my cervix. I am off to the castle in a few hours. I am going to ask him about the fibroid issue with leaving the cervix and if cauterizing it will prevent mini periods. I really don't want to have them after all of this. I am going to try and get some sleep. I am terrified but so eager to have this behind me. I will let you all know how it goes, god willing.
Hugs to all...

My mistake....I changed my signature line.

I couldn't agree more with you on this. I don't want to have monthly bleeding after having this surgery, it just would not be acceptable at all to me.
