TAH no HRT, Weight Loss? possible?
I am having my surgery on May 10th, I am 34 and do not plan on having HRT due to the fact that my endo could come back if I do go on HRT. I was wanting to know if anyone else had been in that same situation and if they either lost or gained weight.
Thanks!!

TAH no HRT, Weight Loss? possible?
Hi There!
I had a TAH/BSO and am on HRT even though I am an endo girl as well. I take progesterone to keep whatever endo that may still be there from spreading. If you just take estrogen it would spread.
I didn't gain any weight after surgery... I actually lost weight but started working out. I am losing alot more weight now (over 1 year later) but that is because I'm working out 6 days/week and am trying to eat better.
Best of luck to you! I would have gone mad with the hotflashes if I didn't take HRT!!!!

TAH no HRT, Weight Loss? possible?
I had a TAH/BSO on March 9 and my dr. wanted to hold off on HRT for the same reason. I lost quite a bit of weight initially after surgery but have basically maintained since. I have been careful with my diet however, since I have not been able to get as much exercise as I'd like.

TAH no HRT, Weight Loss? possible?
I had my surgery on dec 11/06; No HRT allowed or any hormone due to the cancer. I haven't had any problems so far with the surgical menopause. No real hot flashes to speak of.
I actually have notice that the facial hair that I have had a problem with since I was in my 20's has slowed down and actually is getting lighter.
I have been maintaining my weight but still need to lose weight. Cravings that I used to have near that time of the month are gone.

Thank you all for the replies... I have so much going on in my head, and gaining even more weight is not something that I want. I have recently started working out to get alittle bit of a head start on the weight loss, hopefully I will be able to continue after I recover from the surgery.

TAH no HRT, Weight Loss? possible?
I had my hyst in Nov. 06 but have been in menopause since October of 2000 from treatments from breast cancer. I never have been able to take any kind of hrt or hormones of any kind because of my cancer. I have had no problems maintaining my weight and I have even lost more weight since my hyst. I think losing weight without using hrt is possible, you will however, have to be very careful about what you eat and exercise regularly.
