Two more weeks and I'm SO ready!!!

The 26th is almost here, I just have a few more things to do to get done. In the last month I have bled off and on and I'm am so tired, my get up and go got up and went. My dh just wants this to be done so I get to feeling better. I am also dealing with his fears. We lost his dd to cervical cancer in june and he told me he is afraid they will find cancer in me. He also afraid I will die in surgery. After he told me that he said he is not going to talk about it any more. Not sure what to do to make him feel better. The waiting is the hardest part of all this.

Re: Two more weeks and I'm SO ready!!!

Yes...the waiting is sooo emotionally difficult...even for the DHs! Reassure him and yourself by remembering all the women on this site alone that are now "on the other side"! Try and keep busy...do some fun things, anything to keep your mind off it. I actually stripped down the beds in our house and put fresh linens on them and washed my son's teddy bear 3 hours before I had to be at the hospital! As I am recouping, I feel that the pre-op nerves, etc was worse so far than the post op! At least the pain can be managed; it is hard to "treat" your emotions! It will be here and over before you know it!

Re: Two more weeks and I'm SO ready!!!

Hi,
I also am waiting for Jan. 26th. I am nervous and jittery inside. I am trying to keep busy but it is really hard.

I am ready and I know I will feel better so I just keep thinking about the ending.

I am having a TAH/BSO for stage IV endo and endometrioma's.

I am hypothyroid and on synthroid; does anyone know what surgical menopause will do to my thyroid levels? I had a thyroid ablation in 2004 so I have no thyroid at all - just survive on synthroid. I would be interested in knowing if anyone else has this situation and how did it go for you?
p.s. I will not be on HRT afterwards.

Re: Two more weeks and I'm SO ready!!!

Good luck Nancy! I think it's very hard on the DH's as well. My husband has gone from being stalwart to being a nervous wreck and trying to hide it. He's gone from, "You'll be fine" to "I'm staying with you at the hospital overnight because I need to make sure you're ok and protect you."

I had to stop myself from saying "D'awwwww!!!!! You DO CARE!"

I think we're all going to be fine. I just keep telling myself there's sooo many women on this site alone that have gone before me and come out fine. Sure, I won't be having the time of my life but I think I can handle it. (at least I keep telling myself I can handle it...power of positive thought and all)
