drainage from laparoscopic incision

I am three weeks post op and the last week and a half I have had a small amount of drainage. Does anyone else have this? My doctor said it looked okay but put me on an antibotic.

I am 7 weeks post surgery today. I had drainage from my incision up until 5 days ago. I also was on antibiotics. My doctor said that sometimes the body doesn't want the stitches in, so it tries to push them out. That is what happened with me. The stitches eventually were pushed out and I had to be burned with Silver Nitrate to kill the new tissue that was trying to grow. Because the incision was not closed the wrong type of tissue can grow. It hurt! I felt like my insides were on fire! After that it leaked pus and black ashy fluid for about 1 1/2 weeks, and than back to just pus. Now finally at week 7 it is closed with a scab. It will definately leave a much bigger scar than it would have had it stayed closed. Keep an eye on it. don't let it get hot or red. Try warm compresses a few times a day, or a heating pad- that quickens your healing time.
