Day 2 At Home

Pamela,
Welcome Home! Am glad all was uneventful with your castle visit!

I had the same thing happen to me with the bowel movements. It is the soft diet I think.
Once I started to eat "real" food after like the 4 th day home it solved the problem. I won't lie to you the first movement was uncomfortable not really painful but not fun either. Use your belly pillow when you do have the urge to go. It helps so much. I have been trying to eat things that aren't gassy or hard to disgest until I am no longer tender & sore.
Hope this helps some.
Be careful of stool softeners too they can cause more gas and can lead to diarrhea which you don't want.

Happy healing!!!

Day 2 At Home

Welcome to post op!!!

A little dose of milk of magnesia did the trick for me. It got things soft enough to start moving and then got a bit too lose so cut back the dose even more till things were fairly normal.
The first few times were painful. Lots of time just sitting there.
I never had luck with stool softeners.

I hope things :shape: up for you very soon. Try drinking 2 quarts of water everyday as well.

Blessings<><

Post Op

I am one month post op and totally understand the dreaded bowel movement. Have you tried something like metamucil? It works for me. I had to try one dose of Milk of Mag. before I had success. The gas will get better as you walk more. My doctor told me to expect a full 6weeks to get my system back to normal.
