TAH 6 days post op

I was just wondering if others had a greater amount of pain as post op days progressed...i am 6 days post op and when i wake up in the morning my pain is so bad i am doubled over in pain. Not sleeping much at night at all and when i get ip in the AM i can scarcely move. The gas pains have also increased. Not doing much. Short walks in the yard in an effort to move a bit but mostly sitting and napping. Listening to my body. Bowels are whacked. First bm 5 days after surgery, but still miserable in that arena.

I am taking it easy but am quite weary from lack of sleep.

I hope you are feeling better! I can relate to the "great amount of pain". I was in severe pain for about 17-18 days. Percocet really helped. After I just took ibuprofen and tylenol. Tylenol seemed to really help with swelly belly.

I used Gas-X for gas pains. It worked really well.

I had a hard time with bowel movements. I drank warm prune juice and it worked wonders! I drank 1 cup and then after an hour another cup. Then I drank about 1/2 cup every day. 5 days without a BM can be dangerous. If you really can't go for that long, you should contact your doc. Take care of yourself!
