8 days post hysterectomy, bowel movement pain

Hi,

I've been having regular bowel movements since two days after surgery. But now, starting about two days ago, when they start (meaning I'm on the toilet) it is so uncomfortable. Cramping. I end up contorting myself almost. But then instant relief once it's over. No blood, normal looking all that. Just wondering if this is part of healing.

This is also not from me pushing or anything. Just my normal muscle contractions.

Oh gosh, at 7 weeks post op I'm still having issues! There are still lots of adjustments our bodies are going through, including our appetites becoming more normal. One night, around 17 days post-op after I thought I'd gotten things going, I woke up with horrible intestinal pains - churning, tumbling, rumbling like someone was mining rocks internally. I'd not had as much water throughout the day. It seems like the little things like that throw me even now - I'm getting over a bout from this weekend.

Make sure you're getting enough fiber (Fiber One cereal, prunes, prune juice), fruits, veggies and water-water-water to go with that fiber. Magnesium is also an assist to this issue. And when you sit on the throne, prop your feet up on a low foot stool. We were built to squat in order to relieve ourselves, and sitting is almost like standing when it comes to that.

The patience we seem to need in recovery is never ending, ain't it?!

Re: 8 days post, bowel movement pain

Thank you!

I'm definitely trying to up my water intake. I stink at drinking it and I know I need to get better.

If the BM cramping went away, I think I'd be doing alright lol.

I hope your healing goes well. This does get annoying doesn't it

Hugs!
