What is swelly Belly???

Im 5 days post op TAH and just keep seeing Swelly Belly, what is it?? Does everyone get it??

Swelly Belly is basically inflammation of your tissues or it can be left over gas from a laparoscopic surgery. Some people experience swelly belly worse than others. I had minimal swelling but that is typical for me. I hardly had any swelling at all when I had my wisdom teeth removed and didn't expect there to be a lot of swelling with my hysterectomy due to my previous experience, and there wasn't.

Cold/warm pack sometimes helps with the inflammation. Often, the answer is that it will go away in its own time. If the swelling is caused from gas, you can try warm damp heat and walking as well as Gas X or some other medication that helps with gas. Often that goes away in its own time too.

My issue that I think I'm having is a hernia close to the Incision. I have my post op visits tomorrow so I;m sure they will tell me if it is one. There is a bulge there that goes down when I sit/laydown but when I stand up its back I hope its not a hernia because all I've read was surgery to fix it ughhhhh

The bulge near your incision you describe is not what sisters are referring to as swelly belly.You need to have your doctor check that tomorrow. The swelly belly you here about on hystersisters is an overall swelling, like a balloon being filled up with air inside your entire tummy, from your pubic bone to your rib cage and hip to hip.It gives you the look of being pregnant, round and uniform all over.

I really think I have a hernia not happy at all. My hubby seems to think that I will be back in surgery this week My 39th bday is this Weds
