Day 19-struggling with pain at night

I've been doing pretty well although I am 19 days postoperative. I was taking oxycodone as needed for pain, mostly at night. But, I just started experiencing the pain at night. It's hard to describe, but it's an aggravating pain that's keeping me up. Feels like maybe my insides are healing and aren't real excited to be laid out sleeping. When I don't take the oxy at night, I am in pain alll day. But in the morning I feel kind of hung over from the Oxy. Called my doc yesterday and he Prescribed 600 mg. motrin. I hate any drugs, especially narcotics, so i welcomed the Motrin. I took one at 7 p.m. And by 2:00 a.m. I was hurting. I have to take it with food, so i was leary to eat at 2, so I read until 5 a.m., got up, ate and went back to sleep. Just got up. Yukk. Is anyone else experiencing this pain at night? Any suggestions to get me through? Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for your time. Peace to you.

Re: Day 19-struggling with pain at night

Hi Lotus, I'm only 1 week post op but I have the worst pain at night. It's an achy kind of pain. My husband says I cry in my sleep. I take a vicoden before bed and I keep my med on the nightstand in case I wake up. Or if I'm crying (kind of half asleep) my husband will wake me and I'll take one.

Last night I took a hot shower before bed and took two Benadryl. Also I had my husband massage some 'stress relief' lotion on my skin. I actually slept through the night and did not wake up for medicine! maybe you can try this and it will help you . Hugs, Celeste

I had DaVinci also, but I did not sleep in my bed for 2 weeks post op. I would lay down and get an achy feeling, I think it stretched things to much. I slept in my recliner all night and that was so much easier. And jsut starting a couple days ago, I can now roll over and even sleep on my stomach without even noticing it
