may cancel tomorrow's surgery

I woke up this morning with a head-cold (caught I'm sure from my DH who had been coughing and sneezing all week) I'm running a low temp, 99.9. I am scheduled for my LSH-BSO at 6:30 tomorrow morning. I talked to the surgical nurse and she basically left it up to me. I'm thinking it may be best to wait until I'm feeling better from the cold - I have asthma and heart issues, so I think the healthier I am for surgery the better. Anyone had similar issues?? It's just so frustrating to think of having to wait and worry for another two weeks.(that's the soonest the surgeon can fit me in)

Only you know colds affect your asthma and heart. If your intuition is telling you to wait - then I would say your intuition is your best voice. I will keep you in my prayers tonight to help you make your decision.

Thanks, It's been such a rough and painful month, they took me off birth control which was keeping my cysts somewhat under control. So another two weeks of pain does not sound fun, BUT I really don't want to be sick going in to this.

I'd say to follow your instincts. Since it is left up to you, you should do what you feel is best. I'm sure it is a tough decision; I'll be keeping you in my prayers too.

Please keep us updated, we do care

Hi Susan,

I agree. Go with your instincts. I too had a LSH and looking back I would not have wanted to handle surgery, post-op ~and~ a cold. Two weeks is not a long time in the scheme of things.

Best wishes,

Mary

I had adhesiolysis along with the Monarc Hammock done while suffering from a cold. If i would have known how painful coughing/sneezing/etc was going to be, and the possibility of pulling something loose, I would have postponed.

I as well was just getting over a cold before having my hyst, and beacause of the fact that i was laying around more post-op ,my cough came back with a vengence, i really thought that i was going to pop an internal/and or external stich, it was extreamly painful and not only made my recovery a little slower but i think that is why i had so much swelly belly as well, but of course you should go with your gut and the advice of your doc.
