Newbie - CAH on Monday

[Hello all,
My name is Julie and I am 36. I just had a complete abdominal hysterectomy Monday. I am doing way better than I was before the surgery. I had debilitating endometrosis and now all my back, kidney and hip pain are gone as well as the swelling and Im only 4 days out. I have learned how to move the last couple years without using my core so I think I am in heaven right now. The tummy is really sore but its only really bad when I laugh, cough or bend over - which I will not do again (bend over).

Is this feeling normal? I feel like my stomach is just going to fall like there is nothing supporting it? The stitches burn sometimes (they took staples out day three because skin was healing to quick). I have had no bleeding/discharge at all.

My kids are amazed at how well I can walk and move now compared to before. It was painful just to get off the couch to go to the bathroom and 4 hours after my surgery I was walking better than I had in two years. Of course wtih the pillow on my stomach.

Has anyone else experienced this from endometrosis? I really thought it was just bad periods but the surgeon said it was all over my tailbone, kidney and intestines.

Tonight is the first night I just want to take an extra pain pill but I stayed up all day today (sitting at computer) and was up and down alot.

Any advice - suggestions would be much appreciated. I am really curious how many other people have had debilating endometrosis.

Sorry for the mispellings, spell check wont work for me on here.

Re: Newbie - CAH on Monday

Welcome Julslilly!
My complete hysterectomy was 9 weeks ago. I also had endometriosis, but not as severe as yours. I know a lot of women are not happy to get a hysterectomy, but for me it was a welcome change. I've been praying for an early menopause since 8th grade.
I don't have any pain pill advice. I would say ask your doctor or call a pharmacy or one of those 24 hour nurse lines.
Take it slow. Remember, you only have one chance to heal correctly. I stayed in my pajamas for at least a week as a visual reminder to friends and family that I am fragile and need help.

Thank you! I do have pain pills - I meant to say thinking about taking a second one before my 6 hours are up. I have heard a lot of people say you only have one chance to heal correctly. Does that mean if you overdue it you can cause permant damage?

Re: Newbie - CAH on Monday

Yes, I don't know if you read the hystersister free book or signed up for the weekly 'How are you doing' emails... but they explain how you have possibly hundreds of stitches on the inside and that doing too much can make you pop a stitch which will cause bleeding. When you bleed, it can cause parts to stick together that shouldn't. Which I believe is called an adhesion. The book and emails explain it better than I can. You can read my post called: Be careful what you reach for. Take care!
