No bowel prep. Is this common?

I have had the same question. I'm very concerned about post-op bowel issues. I am definitely going to discuss this with my doctor.

I don't have to do a prep either. Thank goodness, if it's anything like prep for a colonoscopy I couldn't imagine have to do that twice in 6 months!

I drank some grape flavored magnesium citrate, doctors orders, wasn't bad..if you don't want to prep your bowels go on an liquid diet the day before, also had to do..good luck

I'm having a TVH on Tuesday, May 1st and my doctor didn't say anything about bowel prep. I had my pre-surgery visit today at the hospital and I asked them, she said some doctors do and some don't. Glad mine doesn't. Have had a couple of other surgeries and never had any problems pooping afterwards... just took a couple of days. Good luck!!

No bowel prep for me either-just a clear liquid diet the day before and nothing after midnight. I'm actually really glad too! Of course I would do it if I had to but it's not on my list of favorite ways to spend my evening before surgery!
