almost 10 weeks post hysterectomy- 1st day at work yesterday - very sore and fragile

It was my first day back at work yesterday. I have been very sore since. I feel like my whole undercarriage is bruised. It is sore when I take bigger walking strides also. I feel just so fragile down there and oh so tired!

Quite concerned about the next couple of days. Is this normal or am I doing damage if I haven't yet healed properly? I do have a desk job, but the sitting is actually what's causing the soreness. I had quite a few stitches to the bladder too and not sure exactly where the discomfort is coming from.

Oh I am so over this!! Want to feel normal again. Now I have returned to work again its much harder to be off. I thought I'd had enough time off!

Any advice?

Re: almost 10 weeks - 1st day at work yesterday - very sore and fragile

Hi, Lilyella.

It will get better. I have a part-time desk job. And BTW, desk job doesn't necessarily imply easy. My first week back was pretty brutal. My work moved offices while I was out. Although a co-worker took very good care of me and my stuff, I still had to unpack some, sort, and finish setting up my new office. I ended up being on my feet too much that first week and just doing too much. I was tired, swollen, and sore. Second week was better, but then for some unknown reason the third week wasn't good. Since then things have been improving and the days are not as difficult as they were in the beginning.

Try to take breaks throughout the day and walk some. I also found it helpful to put my feet up some. I have a bookcase beside my desk, so it made that easy - just put my feet on one of the lower shelves and I could lean back in my chair for a short rest. I imagine a small box under a desk could do the same trick without it being obvious to others if that would be an issue for you. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and have healthy snacks with you. If you're tired and sore when you get home remember you are still recovering, so try to rest. You might try alternating a heating pad and an ice pack on your sore areas. Hang in there. Even if it takes a little more time you will get back to normal.
