SAH on 26th. No pain until now??? Help!

I had my SAH on 26th September and came home on 28th. I was obviously in a little discomfort in the hospital but by Saturday I was taking paracetamol only and the pain was maybe a score of 2, day and night. I have done nothing but sit or lay on sofa in between a little walking around the living room and kitchen, taken it really easy (hubby wont let me lift a finger anyway), feeling pretty good in myself. I had my stitches out yesterday, but before that, it started in the morning sometime, I started to get this dull ache low in my abdomen, to the right, just below the incision. It feel likes something is in there is the only way I can describe it. It feels quite hard compared to the rest of my squishy belly and the pain is one sided, like a stitch. There is no swelling or redness but it has kept me awake most of the night despite my pain meds. Wondering if I should call the doctor tomorrow or if I have just had it too good the past few days and this is normal?

Thanks for reading!

Re: SAH on 26th. No pain until now??? Help!

Any time you have questions or concerns call the DR that's what their there for. With that said what you may be feeling is where the ligaments are tied off or the blood supply. That is what I was told was the most likely explanation. Hope that helps , you will be feeling lots of weird tugs and stitches as the scar tissue forms. Just remember to take it easy. It will get better! I wish you a speedy recovery. Hugs

The pain is actually above the incision site, it feels like a big lump under the skin and the pain from it is hurrendous. Maybe I will keep up with the pain meds and if no better tomorrow then I will call the doctor :-((((( xx

Probably best to call the doctor if you are concerned - but there are a few "normal" things it could be so try not to worry.

I was told to keep up my pain meds for the first few weeks and don't try and brave it. See what the doc says about your meds too.

Silly question but have you moved your bowels? That can cause bad pain too until the first clear out!

Take care x
