Surgery date has arrived

Hi. My name is Gina. My surgery is scheduled tomorrow morning. I am very scared. I'm not sure if I'm getting a LAVH or a LSH. I'm sure the LSH is much easier but the question is where the pre cancerous cells were found. I'm pretty sure they weren't in the cervix. I know the LAVH is very painful afterwards (from everything I have read). I'm more afraid of how much pain I'm going to be in after I wake up. Any suggestions for this scared person.

good luck tomorrow. whatever surgery you have, you will be very well taken care of in the hospital. if you are in any pain, just let them know and you'll get something for it

Good luck...let us know when you get home & how you are doing. Don't be afraid to use the pain meds - that is what they are there for.
Try to relax & get some rest

I had my hysterectomy on September 12. I understand how you are feeling. When I went into the hospital, I couldn't stop crying. I was hysterical. But you know what? They took amazing care of me. And when I woke up, although I had the expected discomfort from surgery, I was overwhelmed with happiness. The pain that I had been living with, the horrible, controlling pain that had taken over my life, was GONE! I was at day one of taking my life back!

It was such an amazing feeling to know that because of modern medicine, my life would get better, I would be better, and the despite my initial fears, surgery really wasn't that bad. Especially since I knew that I had been fortunate enough to find a doctor who took the time to find out what was wrong and took such good care of me.

I know you are scared. I was too when I had my surgery. But everything will be alright... If you are having any pain let them know immediately so they can stop it before it gets going.. The first day was my hardest but they didn't hesitate to give me whatever I needed to get thru the pain. Please let us know how you are doing..

Big hugs.. And just to ease your mind, I had an LAVH/BSO on Sept 24 and was driving in a week and am already back to work and almost totally pain free!

Truly, waiting is the worst part. As the others have said, your hospital staff will be there, with pain meds, if you need them.
