Thyroiditis and Carditis 6 weeks out

I am nearly 6 weeks post op and have what the Dr suspects is thyroiditis and carditis, waiting on results of tests.

Anyone else developed thyroid problems post hysterectomy or heart problem due to infection?

You could do seaches on these topics (use the Search menu option in the purple bar) and see what older threads come up. I think thyroid problems can be something associated with changes in hormones. I've also heard of people, not here, who developed heart issues from infections. Again you could use the search menu.

Re: Thyroiditis and Carditis 6 weeks out

About 5 weeks ago I had pericarditis - not sure if that is the same as carditis. I went to the ER because I woke up with pain in my left shoulder, arm, jaw and chest and thought I was having a heart attack. I was in ICU overnight before they concluded that this was what was going on. They basically said it was a viral inflammation of the sac around the heart and that it most often occurs after some kind of infection. The treatment was pretty straightforward - no exertion for about 10 days and ibuprofen for 3 weeks. I'm fine now and back to exercising, etc. Hopefully whatever you have is easily taken care of. It is frustrating to deal with other health issues when you just want to reclaim your life after this major surgery!
