bleeding

Hi Everyone! I had my hysterectomy done about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I have been experiencing heavy bouts of bleeding with large clots. When I called the doctor she said this was normal (although never mentioned to me at 2 week check up). I seem to be experiencing a crampy feeling similar to menstrual cramps as well. Is this normal and how long can I expect it to last if it is?

I had heavy bleeding with large clots after 2 weeks. I went to er. Ended up going back into surgery to stitch a hole in my vaginal cuff to stop the bleeding. I also had the terrible pressure and period like cramps with the bleeding. If I were you I would head to the ER if it doesn't stop. Btw since the repair I feel way better and no cramps. Hope I helped. Good luck!

Re: bleeding

Heavy bouts of bleeding and clots does not sound normal. Have you been filling a super pad within an hour? Is it bright red blood? How long has this been going on? I realize you called your doctor but perhaps you need to be seen if you answer yes to my questions.

Re: bleeding

I had the same at 2 weeks (er visit) and then again twice the week after which resulted in cauterization- that took care of the bleeding and clots. Please call your doctor or go to the er....some sisters have had very scary experiences with bleeding. Hope yours has slowed down...please take care

Re: bleeding

Thanks everyone! I am doing better since my last post on this. The bleeding was bright red and was filling a pad in less than 20 /minutes. Scared me badly but thankfully it has since slowed way down to the point of almost stopping. I still feel crampy but that I can handle compared to the other! I have to say thanks to this site I feel like I have support and my questions answered, thanks everyone!!

Re: bleeding

How heavy is your bleeding? I didn't bleed for a couple of days and then started bleeding nonstop after until it progressed into the clots and heavy bleeding. If you are concerned you should call your doctor to see if it is normal or if you should see them, especially with it being near the weekend! Best of luck to you!!
