No bowel movment and still have catheter

My LTVH with A/P repair and bladder sling were done 5 days ago. I have not had a bowel movement and I am scared of the pain when I do have one. I still have a catheter because I could not go pee for 6 hours after they took it out in the hospital. What can I do to get things moving? I am already taking 2 stool softeners a day. Thanks.

My dr said I could take milk of magnesia. I've been taking at least 3 stool softners a day and I still have a hard time going.

I have to take the stool softeners 2 times a day and now drink prune juice which I don't like at all. But I have found that the prune juice helps me more at night. I even mixed it into my oatmeal. I do know that you should not strain to have a bowel movement. It took me from Wednesday that I had the surgery to the following Tuesday to have a BM and then boy did I ever. I am more regular now but have to drink lots of water. Something that I did not do as much as I should have. Hang in there. The BM is coming. Each sister has beem different. I found the instant oatmeal recipie from one of the sisters to be very helpful and the warm prune juice idea from another. I have been able to cut back on my dosage of stool softener, but still twice a day.
