6 weeks post hysterectomy & BSO: hot flashes are a result of residual hormones and not a result of menopause?

I am six weeks post op TLH & BSO and has post op Drs's visit. According to Dr healing well and hot flashes are a result of residual hormones and not a result of menopause since I was post menopausal before surgery. I questioned this but she said once I started walking more things should get better. Has anyone else experienced this?

I was post menopausal and had hot flashes plus new symptoms after my BSO. And they didn't improve or go away. I finally went on HRT after a few months. My GYN said it meant I had been producing more hormones than we had realized, even post menopause. So, time will tell if your symptoms improve, you may have more luck than I did.

Thanks, for the heads up. I'm taking magnesium and soy isoflavone in hopes that they will help along with walking exercise.

If its of interest: There's a book that I really like that covers natural remedies & I briefly read about post hysterectomy. Section for hysterectomy: Boron, calcium & magnesium, primrose oil, potassium, vit B complex, vit C, vit E, melatonin, theres others listed too. Theres a section on menopause too. It covers supplements to take. The book is called Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch. Edition 5, revised. I bought Amazon. Some things for menopause, coenzyme Q10 plus coenzyme A, primrose oil, lactobacillus, lecithin, soy protein, vit B complex plus extra b5 & vit b 6 & folic acid. Vit E reduces hot flashes.. Boron, calcium & magnesium. Theres a long list, Ive never taken all, but I like to research which ones important that apply. It covers diet, herbs, HRT.It discusses ailments related to one another too like hypothyroidism related to menopause.

Natural estrogen promoters, anise, dong quai, fennel, fenugreek, ginsing, licorice, primrose oil, red clover, sage, suma, wild yam. I like to research each item to be sure safe w say if you have heart issues, diabetes, bleeding issues, high BP, etc. I think theres cautions on licorice, dong quai, sage, so research all of them.

Thank you. I have that book, but second addition. I have followed some of the recommendations from the book. I am getting some relief using magnesium, calcium, soy isoflavones, anise, sage and a few other herbs.

Great! Glad to hear that you're getting some relief. Diet, exercise & supplements can help. Its always a matter to find right balance & if necessary, find someone that specializes in areas concerned. I saw a nutritionist years ago for allergies he helped me. He also referred me to Prescriotion for Nutritional Healing, many years ago & it helped me many times. Now, if I can just find a solution to this swelling belly!
