Is this pain normal?

Hi Joanne,

I'm glad you went to see your doctor and that he's taken you seriously.

Hopefully things will get sorted now without too much trouble.

Please keep us informed as to how you're doing.

Best wishes

Is this pain normal?

A short update,

It's Friday and I am actually feeling better than Monday. The pain is still there but not so intense. It's the not knowing what is normal that is driving me crazy. I am still waiting to get the cat scan appointment. Haven't received the results from my blood tests yet. I guess no news is good news. Meanwhile I am doing more and trying to get back in my routine. Maybe 8 weeks will be a turning point for my recovery.

I appreciate the feed back from everyone. It's comforting to know there is support out there.

Joanne

Is this pain normal?

Would you believe a Kidney Stone???????

I had my CT scan on thursday. A delightful experience. I knew I was going to have to drink this milk of magnesia type berry stuff, but I didn't know I was going to have an IV with a die injection. It made me feel warm, tingly and like I had to pee. That wasn't too bad until I started to get a very intense pain right above the pain I already had. It got so strong I couldn't move so they had to call in the doctor. Once they took out the IV it slowly disappeared. Thank God!!!! The results found a kidney stone.

I am now drowning myself with water to try and flush it out by Monday. If if doesn't come out by itself it's back to the doctor.

After a little internet reseach, it's possible I developed the stone by not drinking enough water, laying in bed and possibly low estrogen.

The good news is once this is gone I should feel fine. I am now 9 weeks post op and ready to put this behind me.

Thanks for your support,

Joanne

Is this pain normal?

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know the outcome of your pain.

Kidney stones!! That must have been a surprise to you.
At least you know it's nothing too serious. Hopefully things will start to settle down soon.

I'm 9 weeks post op too and feeling really well.

Best wishes

whew, kidney stones can be realllllly painful; but thankfully, not often serious; I am so glad it wasn't a complication of your surgery.

Is this pain normal?

Hi Joanne,

I'm glad you finally got an answer. Kidney stones are no fun, but not the worst thing that it could have been.

I have one that is partially blocking the flow of urine in my left kidney; it was found on the same ultrasound that showed my fibroids etc. I am waiting to pass my 8 week post op mark, to be sure I am fairly well healed from the hyst, then I have to get the stone out.

Apparently they put you into water and shoot sonic blasts at the site of the stone, which breaks it up and allows it to come out when you urinate~~~no invasive surgery although it does slightly traumatize the surrounding areas, and will need to lay low for about a week after~~~a piece of cake after what we've already been through huh?

Take care and let us know how it goes. Hopefully that will be the last thing for a while, goodness knows we've all had enough

To pass or not to pass?

I saw a medical doctor yesterday and she talked to the head of urology (sp?) about my kidney stone. He said I should have not problem passing a stone that size by myself in a couple of days. Everyone's response has been OH! those really are painful. So far I am not in alot of pain, but wonder what is ahead of me. I have noticed that the pain has moved to my lower back. I am going to call the advice nurse to see if that is a good thing or not.

Thanks for the sounding board, I just felt I needed to put this all in words before I start my day.

Good news is the CT scan showed that my surgery is healing and looking good.

Thanks again for the support.

Joanne
