Lab results are in!

Just got the results from the bloodwork done at my pre-op on Tuesday.

The iron infusions are definitely helping. My hemoglobin increased from 7.5 to 8.7 after 5 treatments, and my iron is all the way up to 101!

I know they'd like my hemoglobin to get up to at least 10 before surgery, and it seems like I'm on target to hit that goal. I've had three more iron infusions since they did the bloodwork, and I have five more scheduled (every day until the day before surgery). If it came up 1.2 in just five treatments, surely in eight more we can get it up another 1.3. Right?

The last few days I've had more energy than I've had in MONTHS, so I can really feel that the treatment is working. Yesterday evening I took an hour long walk, my first real exercise in weeks, and it felt really good.

Feeling very relieved and (almost) ready for surgery now.

I have my final doctor appointment tomorrow. Then just waiting until Tuesday.

I am in Real Estate so I will be working days this weekend.

If all goes according to plan (HA HA) we are going out with good friends Saturday night, Family Dinner Sunday night, and my Tennis team is doing end of season dinner early for me on Monday night.

Other than that just trying to stay busy and not think about it!

Just prepared my list of questions for doctor tomorrow. Though most of them he won;t be able to answer until he actually knows which surgery he will be doing (LSH or SAH or LVAH - depending on what he sees).

How about you?

My mom is flying in on Saturday afternoon. Sunday evening we're doing family dinner with a group of my close friends (we do it one Sunday every month), and on Monday evening I'm taking my mom and four of my best girlfriends out to dinner at my favorite restaurant for a "last hurrah" before surgery.
